However, the court panel presided by Judge Al Saeed Bargouth suspended his jail term for three years.

The 26-year-old Emirati could not, however, rape the Filipina visitor, 31, as the latter managed to escape from the car. The man also allegedly beat her up and threatened her that he would kill her after raping her together with a group of his friends.

He faced charges of kidnap, assault and threat. The complainant told the prosecutor that she was waiting for her friend near her residence in Satwa on April 15, 2009 when a four-wheel drive driven by the defendant stopped in front of her. “It was about 4am when I was waiting for my girlfriend to go shopping from a grocery. The accused stopped for me and offered to give me a lift. I said no,” the visitor said. She said the defendant was with a man — his uncle.

As she walked away, the defendant drove forward and stopped the vehicle blocking her way. He stepped came out of the vehicle and came towards her. He beat her up and pulled her hair. He also slapped her on her face many times.

As she ran towards Satwa bus stop, he kept following her until he grabbed her again, beat her up and pulled her hair. He then pushed her down and put his feet on her head. He bit her ear. Then her friend came and tried to settle the problem in vain. The defendant together with his uncle forced the complainant into their car. She told the prosecutor that the other man was driving while the defendant was beating her up on several parts of her body all along the way. “He threatened me that 10 of his friends are waiting in Mirdiff to rape me and that he would kill me later,” she said. On the way, he mad his uncle to stop the vehicle at one place and spoke with about five people who told him they were heading towards Satwa. When the vehicle reached his house in Satwa and he stepped off the car, she opened the door and ran away. She asked a grocery keeper for help and the latter called the police.

The police and ambulance came shortly later and she was taken to Bur Dubai police station and from there to a hospital.
