DUBAI — Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and the UAE Minister of Finance and Industry, inaugurated yesterday the latest edition of region's leading Water, Energy and Environment Exhibition (Wetex) organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre.
The exhibition, which will last for three days, hosts major local, regional and international companies in water, energy and environment sectors. Shaikh Hamdan visited different stalls in the exhibition hall after the inauguration.
Announcing the opening of Wetex 2006, Saeed Muhammad Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dewa said, "The show has participation from many government departments, local, regional and international companies and the exhibition space was fully booked in advance."
"Wetex is a significant exhibition. It is one-of-its-kind in the region and takes place in the context of the growth in economic and social sectors coupled with the rise in environmental awareness," he added.
He pointed out that Wetex is a significant platform for the participants to exhibit their products and services helping the decision makers of the region in water, energy and environment sectors to choose the best.
"The strong participation in the exhibition reflected positively on the UAE, especially Dubai as a business hub of the region. Wetex is held every year and the event adds value to the economic activities Dubai holds across international markets," Al Tayer said adding that manufacturing sector attracts sizeable investments and the event plays a big role in giving more prominence to this sector.
Wetex is displaying an array of products with latest technology in water, energy and environment sectors including power plants, substations, water treatment plants, desalination plants, irrigation systems, dewatering equipment, boilers, cables, transformers, switch gears, relays and accessories, control systems, insulation materials, power supply equipment, and energy conservation products.
The exhibition also showcases products such as spraying equipment, lubricants, conduit, electrical fittings, fibre glass products, valves, pumps, pipes, generators, transmission and distribution equipment for power and water among other magnetic devices.
