Modhesh wakes up into adventure week dazzle

"What happened?" he wondered, gaping at the darkness around him. And then it struck him suddenly. “I'm alive,” he exclaimed, blinking in surprise and wriggling his toes and fingers. “And this is the Adventure Week of the Dubai Summer Surprises,” he said with a smile that lit up the dark room.

"What a surprise! What fun I will have with the kids during this week," he giggled, lifting up his yellow frame and looking around.

"What do we have lined up for this week?" wondered Modhesh, rubbing his hands together in glee. "H'mm. Let's see," he said, peering down on the DSS’ itinerary for the Adventure Week that he found in a corner of the room. "How could I have missed the exciting opening ceremony at my favourite destination The Mall of the Emirates. I must have dozed off," he said, banging his hand on his head in frustration.

"I will make sure not to miss the remaining activities," he promised himself with a smile, his sunny nature overcoming the sudden gloom that had come over him for missing the opening ceremony.

At least I know what happened during the opening. A special stage was set up in the Galleria Area with a sophisticated light and laser display. Several acrobatic performances by a Chinese group who juggled various props and did balancing acts enthralled the audience, he said to himself. "An excellent start to the week."

What else is there? he wondered, reading on. International performers have been flown in for the week. Acrobats will perform amazing stunts with bikes during the Happy Stars Show.

He read on: "Both indoor and outdoor events have been organised for this week. For the first time beach events will be held for which a huge air-conditioned tent has been set up at Al Mamzar beach."

But what's happening in other parts of Dubai? he wondered.

"Around the World Treasure Hunt at BurJuman will teach kids about the different cultures of the world. To add more adventure, bungee jumping and Space Ball will also be held," Modhesh read out aloud.

"I better dash to the venues, otherwise I will miss out on the fun," he said while making a dash for the door. The thought of going over all the event list made him stop suddenly. "I have to know all before I leave because I do not want to miss out on any event," he giggled loudly.

BurJuman will also hold an Adventure Festival in which different competitions will give winners attractive prizes. A similar event will be held at Reef Mall by the name of 4x4 Competition. Ibn Battuta Mall will be home to events like Fun Castle, Paintless Paintball Adventures, Wild Bull Rodeo Challenge and Pinnacle Show Challenge. Cool! Said Modhesh skipping from one foot to the other. "This will test the concentration, stamina and competitive spirit of the kids," he thought.

What else? Individual and team game competitions will be held at Al Ghurair City with competitions like 3D Computer Games, Inning Rally and Amazed by Maze. Jugglers Show, Chinese Magic Show, Animal Circus with trained animals and the Trampoline Show are to be held every day in different malls throughout the week.

Suddenly the door opened, momentarily blinding Modhesh. Blinking his eyes, Modhesh saw little heads and eyes peering hard at him. "Modhesh, where are you? DSS is incomplete without you. Come on hurry up!! they chorused. "Comin' comin," said Modhesh gleefully, lighting up the room with his sunny smile and skipping happily along with the excited kids.
