New Chair in Corporate Governance Created at Business School

ABU DHABI — Insead, a business school in Abu Dhabi, and Mubadala Development Company on Monday signed an agreement to create the Mubadala Chair in Corporate Governance and Strategy.

The new chair will act as a motivation for Insead research and studies in corporate governance and strategic issues in the Middle East, as well as raise awareness about these topics in the region. Mubadala will also train and employ students who pass out from Insead.

Carlos Obeid, chief financial officer, Mubadala, and Peter Jadersten, executive director, Insead Abu Dhabi centre, signed the agreement on the first anniversary of Insead’s Centre for Research and Executive Education in the capital.

The agreement will bring together the Insead faculty and Mubadala analysts, associates and managers to improve knowledge and understanding.

Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, CEO and managing director of Mubadala Development Company, said, “As Mubadala invests in and creates new businesses in the region, we are conscious of the importance of good corporate governance and its impact on the development and diversification of Abu Dhabi’s economy. We are delighted to create this chair in partnership with such a world-class academic institution and we look forward to our role in helping to further research and raise awareness in the field.”

Dr Mugheer Al Khaili, general manager of the Abu Dhabi Education Council, said, “Insead is the one of renowned education provider in the world.

“We need such institutions to help build our people and human resource capabilities and skill.

“We provide all kinds of support to spread education.”
