According to the system, the MoH will make a fingerprint database of all UAE expatriates who have applied for a medical fitness certificate or health card. These fingerprints and the Medical Fitness results will be sent to the MoL’s database, which is needed while applying for a labour permit.
In return, the MoH will receive from the MoL, the audited and accurate data and adjusted photographs of workers that have been likewise saved in the MoL’s database. At present, both the ministries are collecting the same information twice. Announcing the details of the recently established link between the two ministries, Dr Ali bin Abdullah Al Kaabi, Minister of Labour; and Minister of Health, Obaid Al Quttami; yesterday said that the system will reduce the paperwork considerably and save nearly 20 per cent of the time. “There is no extra fee to be charged for this portal. Instead, the service will reduce the efforts exerted,” they explained.
Al Kaabi said: “There will be no need for signatures, while the paperwork will be considerably reduced due to the introduction of this facility by the e-government.” Al Quttami added that in the future, the ministry would establish such links with the Ministry of Education as well.
