“The results have been positive,” said Brigadier Pilot Ahmad Mohammed bin Thani, Director of the General Department of Airport Security, Dubai Police.

Stressing the importance of being able to read body language correctly in combating crime, he said that understanding and being able to quickly analyse signs and behaviour enable one to have a control over them and often go a long way detecting crime, and in some cases even stopping it.

The 20 police officers who underwent training were introduced to the art of communication and developing contact skills with others to enable them better comprehend an individual's intentions and, more specifically, analyse their conduct. The training course will help them become more familiar with the different kinds of personalities that they would encounter in the course of their duty and how best to read them as accurately as possible. "Body language training will enable the security staff working at the airport to spot people with bad intentions, or passenger attempting to smuggle in banned items," Brig. Pilot Mohammed bin Thani said, observing that body language is a modern science that has been adopted by the Dubai Police.
