Pakistani sponsors need to get visa certified by airline

DUBAI — Pakistani residents in the UAE , who are sponsoring visitors from their home country, now need to get the original visa copy certified by the relevant airline.

Airline officials said the new rule had been adopted and introduced recently by Pakistan’s Immigration to curb travel on illegal and forged documents.

“All sponsors will have to bring the original copy of the visit visa to the offices of the airline in which the visitor will be travelling so that it can be stamped and verified,” said a spokesperson for Pakistan International Airlines.

“This rule is relatively new and aims stopping people from travelling on forged documents,” he said, adding that the verification would be done free of cost.”
