Speaking about the event, Hassan Abduallah Al Balghouni, Head of the Public and Press Reations of Sharjah Municipality, said that the organising committee has held its second meeting in preparation for the event, which is aimed at preserving the beautiful image of the city.

The event follows the Sharjah Parks Festival that was organised from January 15 to February 7 at several parks mainly at Al Jazeera Park in Sharjah. The event witnessed various activities and functions for children.

In line with Sharjah Municipality's support to conserve green areas in the city and carry out beautification projects at different sites in the emirate, the civic body will hold the Sharjah Flowers and Gardens Exhibition at Al Majaz Park next to Khaled Lagoon.

"The event, which will take place in collaboration with government departments, would encourage the public to take part in activities aimed at protecting the beautiful areas in the emirate," he said.

The exhibition will coincide with the afforestation week that will take place in March in collaboration with the General Secretariat of Municipalities. Many activities will also be organised on the sidelines of the event including flower exhibitions, and several pavilions for exhibitors will be set up in the park.

The municipality's pavilion will include a tent for decorative planting, a tent for displaying the municipal nurseries, a tent for agricultural fertilizers, and a tent for the General Secretariat of Municipalities.

The show will feature several specialised lectures on the municipal planting techniques, as well as some general lectures for the public in participation with agricultural experts and specialists.

More than four national firms working in the field of planting will take part in the decorative planting pavilion, and many other exhibitors will participate in the nurseries pavilion, agricultural equipment pavilion, fish and birds pavilion, and a painting pavilion.

A number of publications highlighting the municipality's achievements in the field of greenery will be on display at the exhibition. In this context, a statistical book comprising 158 pages has earlier been issued by the municipality. The book contains details about the philosophy of Sharjah in the afforestation field, the projects it has carried out including the parks, recreational areas, public squares, green belts and roundabouts.
