Dubai - The road will be officially opened to the public once it meets all requirements of traffic safety standards.
The move comes after a spurt in cases of serious traffic accidents due to reckless driving on the stretch, Araa News reported. The motorists have been entering a restricted area and were not following designated lanes marked for traffic, the report pointed out.
Colonel Ahmed Al Sum Al Naqbi, director of traffic and patrol department of Ras Al Khaimah Police, said that the administration was forced to take such measures because of the violations being committed along the road even before it could be officially opened.
The company undertaking the road works coordinated with the safety crews that put up signs along the roads.
The road will be officially opened to the public once it meets all requirements of traffic safety standards.
Jasim Mohamed Al Tunaiji, head of the traffic engineering department of Ras Al Khaimah Police, the management will fine erring drivers through minimum speed technology along the Ring Road. A fine of Dh500 will be imposed on the violators.
