With few days left for the Eid Al Fitr, also known as the Lesser Festival, residents of the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah are to have a new Eid Musalla at the Seeh Al Beer area.
The RAK department of public works and services, geared up for the feast, has thoroughly maintained all the other three Musallas in the northern emirate as well, according to a top official.
Eng Ahmed Al Hammadi, director general of the department, said the new Musalla of Seeh Al Beer is constructed on a total area of 10,000 square meters. "The new facility can accommodate up to 9,260 worshipers."
The department has also maintained the main Grand Musalla at the Khuzam area in the Ras Al Khaimah city, he added.
"The Grand Musalla, built on a total area of 62,500 square meters, can accommodate up to 57,800 worshippers."
Eng Al Hammadi stated that they have also maintained the Musalla of Al Khiran area. "This Musalla is built on a total area of 15,000 square meters, and can accommodate up to 13,900 worshippers."
The Musalla of Huwailat area, 120km to the south of RAK city, has also been maintained. "The Musalla, built on a total area of 600 square meters, can accommodate 560 worshippers."
Elaborating, Eng Al Hammadi said the floors of all the maintained Musallas have been replaced with new ones. "These are apart from the painting, lighting, and sound system works for worshippers' convenience."
Official figures show that the Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha prayers are performed in over 70 mosques across the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
"Praying Eid prayer is advisable at Musalla, however, as advised by Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)."
