Ramadan begins today: UAE Moon-sighting Committee

Abu Dhabi - The UAE's moon-sighting committee met today after the Maghrib prayer.

Today, Monday, June 6, is the first day of the holy month of Ramadan in the country, according to an announcement by the UAE Moon-sighting Committee on Sunday night.
The 12-member Moon-sighting Committee met at the offices of the Judicial Department, Abu Dhabi under the chairmanship of Sultan bin Saeed Al Badi, Minister for Justice.

The Justice minister, in his remarks after the meeting, greeted the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Miniser of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates and the people of the UAE and whole Islamic world on the beginning of the holy month.
He prayed that the holy month brings peace, blessings for everyone.
