Residents warned against misuse 
of pesticides

DUBAI — The Dubai Police have warned people against the misuse of insecticides and pesticides following the recording of several untoward cases .

Colonel Jamal Salem Al Jalaf, Deputy Director of Criminal Investigation department for control affairs said that insecticides and pesticides are chemicals used to eliminate pests. They are easily available in the market, but they should not be misused as they can have a negative impact on people’s health.

He stressed that people should strictly follow the instructions on how to use them and should ensure that they are kept away from children and food.

Al Jallaf said the Dubai Police have recorded several cases of poisoning resulting from the misuse of these substances. He added that an Asian had to be shifted to the hospital after he inhaled pesticide sprayed in his neighbouring apartment. Another Asian died after failing to vacate his apartment after spraying pesticide. Colonel Al Jalaf has warned people against using unauthorised substances. He said the pest control section at the Municipality was providing all such services to the public.— news@khaleejtimes.com
