Sharjah govt gets new emblem

The emblem features a circle containing a nine-frond palm tree in the middle with two falling dates clusters. The backdrop portrays two UAE flags and strip under the tree carries the name of Sharjah in Arabic and English.

The emblem will only be used for government records, documents and activities.

In its fourth article, the decree prohibits the use of the emblem by non-government entities for commercial and industrial or personal purposes. Private institutions can obtain an exemption to use the logo from the government.

Without prejudice to any other penalties stipulated by a local or federal law, offenders of Article 4 will face a jail term of not more than one year and/or a fine of not more than Dh100,0000.

Documents and seals carrying the emblem contrary to the provisions of the decree will be confiscated.

The decree will go into force from the date of issue and will be published in the gazette. —
