DUBAI/SHARJAH — Pope John Paul II's recovery is the special intention of Catholic parishioners in the masses held at the St. Mary's Church in Dubai and the St. Michael's Church in Sharjah, after he underwent a throat surgery to ease his breathing.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Father P.M. Peter, parish priest of St. Mary's Church, said: “In our daily masses, we offer prayers for Pope John Paul II. He is loved by the people as he has established peace in the world.”
Prayers will also be offered at today's morning and evening Sunday services at St. Mary's Church, he said.
Father Angelo Fimicelli, parish priest of St. Michael's Church in Sharjah, told Khaleej Times: “We are praying for Pope John Paul II because he is a great man and the world needs him. The Vatican has asked people to pray for him.”
Father Angelo said that special prayers were heard in masses on Friday and at 6.30pm and 8pm yesterday.
Today, the special masses for the Pope will be held at 8.30am, 5.30pm, 7pm, and 8pm (Arabic).
