Sri Lanka show to promote tea and tourism

ABU DHABI - Sri Lankan cultural heritage - tea and tourism - will be in focus at the promotional week to be held at the Liwa Centre in Abu Dhabi from October 19 to October 25.

Two Sri Lankan stalls, one to promote Sri Lanka as a tourist destination, and the other to promote Sri Lankan tea will be put up by the Sri Lankan embassy during the event to be held from 5.30pm to 10pm.

At the first stall, a video film entitled Sri Lanka - A land like no other on Sri Lanka's scenic beauty will be screened and promotional tourism brochures in Arabic and English will be distributed to visitors.l A CD with the same literature in pictorial format will also be distributed.

The pictures of important cultural heritage sites, like the Unesco-designated International heritage sites - the 5th century Sigiriya Rock Citadel, the world famous annual cultural parade in Kandy, ancient Buddhist Dagobas and architectural sites, together with golden sandy beaches will be included, embassy sources said.

Also on display will be Sri Lankan artefacts and handicraft.
