Abu Dhabi’s state-linked defence manufacturer, Tawazun Advanced Defence Systems (TADS), has unveiled a second-generation variant of its STR-12 rifle that it had introduced earlier this year.
TADS launched the gun at the internal state security event, Milipol Qatar, currently taking place in Doha.
TADS has been the designer, developer and manufacturer of long-range rifles of Tawazun Holding, an investment firm focused on the development of defence manufacturing sector. It had developed and manufactured its STR-12 precision rifle earlier in the year.
The STR-12 rifle is designed and produced in the TADS manufacturing facility, located in the Tawazun Industrial Park in Abu Dhabi. It has a similar design to its predecessor and features improved ergonomics and tactical flexibility. It boasts of a set of advanced technical add-on features designed to fulfill the needs of professional defence tactical shooters.
TADS adapted the weapon to modern combat requirements and integrated qualities such as simplicity and reliability.
Commenting from Milipol Qatar, Anas Al Otaiba, General Manager of TADS, said: “Our presence at Milipol allows us to showcase the new STR-12 rifle – as well as our other products – and to demonstrate how the UAE is fast developing a high quality capability in the field of advanced defence systems.”
Designed specifically to meet the needs of advanced weaponry users, the new STR-12 is a product that “we’re confident will stand among the finest tactical rifles available in the market today. We’re extremely proud that it is being designed and manufactured in the UAE”, Al Otaiba added.
TADS provides unique solutions for remote, long-range, high-impact, and precise combat weaponry by utilising advanced UAE engineering to deliver world-class innovative products.
The company also produces sport and long range rifles with changeable barrels in the three main calibers, as well as tactical and long range hunting rifles.
TADS has a range of its own trademark advanced hand-held ballistic calculators and also offers customers sniper training and after-sales support.
Meanwhile, Milipol visitors will be able to see TADS products on display at the Tawazun stand within the UAE pavilion in the Doha Exhibition Centre till October 10.
In addition to TADS, the Tawazun Holding stand is showcasing armored vehicles made by defence automotive manufacturer Nimr, military and sporting weapons produced by Caracal International, shooting management offerings from Remaya, autonomous systems solutions from Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Investments as well as munitions manufactured by Burkan and Caracal Light Ammunition.
