Top Memon students to be honoured on Sept 22

According to the organisers, children who had completed Hifzul Quran after October 2004, will also be felicitated and awarded with a special prize upon submission of appropriate evidence from school or madressa. Students of Class One to Graduation, who had secured 80 per cent or above, will be felicitated and they will also be eligible to receive prizes. Grades will be assigned in accordance with the following formula: “A+” for 95 per cent, “A” for 90 per cent, “B+” for 85 per cent, “B” for 80 per cent, “C+” for 75 per cent, “C” for 70 per cent, “D” for 60 per cent and “E” for 50 per cent marks.

“Receiving a prize or an award from a dignitary in the presence of a large audience makes children happy and motivates them and others to put in more efforts and achieve better results and excellence,” the organisers said.

Only those children who had passed their final examinations held in 2005 will be considered eligible. Results and reports issued by schools, colleges and recognised educational institutions in the UAE will be accepted. Those issued by the institutions outside the UAE will not be eligible. While calculating the aggregate and average, marks obtained in Physical Education, Art and Drawings will not be included, the organisers said.

A special talent award will be presented each to a boy and a girl considered to have achieved high excellence. Appropriate recognition certificate in the field of education awarded by recognised institutions should be provided in this regard, they added.

The organisers also asked the community to submit results and reports along with a covering sheet before September 11, 2005.
