Another beach for women will be built in the Rams area, while a public park for only women will be opened later this year on the Red Island.

The Public Works and Services Department (PWSD) opened the first public park for women in the Khazm residential area recently.

Abdullah Yusuf, Chairman of the PWSD, said the Khazm Park, designed in a linear style, is 1,100 square foot and has a 224-metre-long jogging track. “There is also a cafeteria, a play area for kids with several swimming pools — all surrounded with a high fence for privacy — apart from toilets, extensive landscapes and other services.”

The new park is built as per the instructions of Shaikha Hanaa bint Juma, wife of His Highness Shaikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, to provide an integrated facility for women to freely meet, chat and jog in private.

“The women only park, which is one of the five beaches and parks planned for women, is part of the department’s strategy to offer the most convenient facilities to all segments of the society across the emirate, and make the necessary services available in line with our religious teachings and traditions,” Yusuf said.
