ABU DHABI - Zayed University (ZU) has received international accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, which makes it the first university in the country to receive this United States accreditation.
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education, based in the US, is a voluntary, non-government association that has a total of 517 institutions, with only 14 located outside the US.
At a Press conference at his palace in Al Khazna, Minister for Higher Education and Scientific Research Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan said that acquiring this prestigious accreditation was not an easy process, as it had strict requirements and obligations, especially since ZU is not registered within the US.
‘This is the result of more than five years of hard work and cooperation with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, during which the commission studied, reviewed, and assessed the university's institutional and administrative efficiency as a higher educational institution, the suitability of the curriculum in both baccalaureate and masters programmes, as well as faculty and staff quality, consistent standards for student admissions, and appropriate orientation and placement systems,’ he noted.
Shaikh Nahyan said this international accreditation showed the confidence in the international standards of ZU, and its ability to provide high quality education and training programmes, and conducting scientific research.
