The Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (Wetex) and Dubai Solar Show will bring the largest international organisations to demonstrate their latest developments and technological solutions in water, energy, sustainability and innovation, said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of Dewa.
Set to be held virtually this year from October 26 to 28, this is the first virtual 3D carbon-neutral exhibition in the Middle East and North Africa. The virtual exhibition has all the opportunities of a physical exhibition, as well as eliminating geographical limitations for the attendees and exhibitors from around the world.
The exhibition is an ideal platform for local and international companies and organisations to promote their products, services and innovative solutions in the water, energy, sustainability and innovation sectors, in addition to sharing best practices and expertise from around the world.
Al Tayer said: “We consider the sponsors and supporters of Wetex and Dubai Solar Show as our partners who have consolidated the position of this economic and environmental event on the global map of specialised exhibitions. They play a role in accelerating the shift towards a green economy in the UAE and the region,” said Al Tayer.
Fifty-five local and international companies and organisations have announced their sponsorship for Wetex and the Solar Show. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai is the diamond sponsor; Siemens, Acwa Power, ABB and Hitachi ABB Power Grids are the titanium sponsors, while Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) is the strategic media sponsor. There are 13 strategic sponsors, six platinum sponsors, 26 gold sponsors and five key media partners, including Khaleej Times.
“Our participation in Wetex is a perfect opportunity to showcase the RTA’s initiatives, achievements and plans towards achieving a sustainable green environment in all operations and services... the RTA managed significant savings in the use of energy in 2019. It saved 39.6 gigawatt-hours, 45.2 million gallons of water, 15.5 million litres of gasoline and 700,000 litres of diesel. In gas emissions, it saved 56.95 tonnes of carbon equivalent,” said Nasser Abu Shehab, CEO of strategy and corporate governance at the RTA.
“We are pleased to play an active role in this landmark event. Despite Covid-19 and its implications, the government of Dubai continues to progress towards its vision to increase its renewable energy share to 75 per cent by 2050. These advancements have been made possible through comprehensive objectives set forth by Dubai towards achieving the lowest carbon footprint and transforming the Emirate into a global clean energy and green economy hub,” said Mohammad Abunayyan, chairman of Acwa Power.
“Siemens Energy is proud to be a key sponsor for Dewa’s important and influential Wetex. This event will be the first 3D virtual event in its 22-year history, and this innovative approach is symbolic of the ambitious and pioneering values of Wetex, Dewa and the UAE,” said Dietmar Siersdorfer, managing director of Siemens Energy in the Middle East and UAE.
“Digitalisation will be one of the most important enablers that will span the whole value chain, across sustainable energy and advanced digital technologies, and we embrace the spirit of innovation that helps us serve our customers. We will showcase these capabilities at Wetex 2020, the region’s premier event focusing on power, water and environment,” said Dr Mostafa Al Guezeri, managing director of Hitachi ABB Power Grids in the UAE, Gulf, Near East and Pakistan.
Saif Humaid Al Falasi, group CEO of Emirates National Oil Company, said Wetex is a leading platform that has, over the past 21 years, brought together industry experts and leading players to showcase cutting edge technologies and innovation in the power and utility sector.
Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said: “We intend to use this event to cast light on our latest ground-breaking solutions in district cooling, highlight the advantages of energy-efficient and eco-friendly district cooling services and stress green buildings concepts.”
“We look forward to our participation in the next cycle, as the first virtual 3D experience in Wetex and aim to study the latest technology in the field of carbon emission reduction and innovative solutions in sustainability,” said Ahmad Buti Al Muhairbi, secretary-general of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.
