devotees and the shrine's rules.Explains Vipul, 'I had categorically told people in Ajmer that Katrina is playing an NRI girl in the film who has come to India for the first time and would wear a skirt in this scene.

They told me that she must wear a skirt that was below the knees and that is what she wore. We were taken inside the Dargah by the officials and shot the scene after getting due permission.'

While Vipul may not have got the 'below the knees' part quite as prescribed, Katrina maintains she just followed the director's instructions. 'I just did what my director wanted me to do. Only he knows the details.'

In the face of vocal protests, Vipul has apologised and decided to delete the scene from the film. 'My intention was not to hurt any religious sentiments, I am not the kind of man who would go to any extent for a movie. I am not a fanatic. I am just a filmmaker and wanted to shoot a good scene. But after this, I have decided to trash the scene from the movie. If I have hurt the feelings of anybody, I apologise.'

With the controversy, this film finds itself in the company of movies like Water, The Da Vinci Code and Jo Bole So Nihaal among others. In various degrees, these films had to face the ire of religious groups. Water had to be shelved, and was later shot in Sri Lanka with a new cast.
