Sufi-rock fest comes to Dubai

A MUSICAL CONCERT, which will bring together a blend of Sufi, rock and fusion will be held in Dubai at the end of this month. The entertaining evening will feature the talents of Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan, Strings and Overload.

Winner of several accolades - inclusive of honours for best pop album for Saagar, best song for Tere Bina from Hyderabad Blues 2 and best video for Khamaj - Shafqat writes and composes most of his songs. He enjoys experimenting with various styles and working with musicians from diverse backgrounds, cultures and countries, maintaining the strong identity of his traditional style of classical music.

Strings, an internationally acclaimed Pakistani rock band, comprises Bilal Maqsood (vocals and guitars) and Faisal Kapadia (vocals). In 2007, Strings struck a deal with Gibson Guitar Corporation, becoming the first South Asian band in history to create a working relationship with the famed guitar manufacturers. The duo have also worked on the soundtrack of Spiderman 2.

Meanwhile, rock-fusion band Overload are regarded as the ‘Loudest band in Pakistan’.
