Janet Jackson performing at the Dubai World Cup
Dubai - Janet Jackson brings the Dubai World Cup to a thrilling finale
Jackson released Unbreakable, last year, her first album since the death of her brother Michael Jackson in 2009, and embarked on a major tour. But until Dubai, she had not performed since November 22 in Japan. After a series of cancellations, which included an abrupt delay of the entire European portion of her Unbreakable tour, the pop superstar didn't disappoint her UAE fans. The 49-year-old revealed no specific details regarding her health but issued a statement to deny speculation that she was suffering from cancer. A lot of fans were worried that her health issues might have resulted in a cancelation here in Dubai or led to a lack luster performance which would have been equally disappointing. But, lucky for us, true to her family's performance pedigree, Janet lit the stage on fire.
Dressed in an arms-length black jumpsuit with an oversized necklace Janet performed with a group of choreographed dancers behind her to some of her classic hits such as Control and the more recent and funkier All Nite (Don't Stop). We couldn't have asked for more.
Despite rumors regarding her health, Janet was on point on stage, looking healthy, happy, sounding great and dancing like we'd hoped she would. Janet Jackson helped reshape the concert landscape in the late 1980s with her Control and Rhythm Nation tours, which are still considered landmarks for their elaborate dance routines and messages of empowerment.
