The National Covid-19 Clinical Management Committee in the UAE has officially cancelled the stipulated 10-minute waiting period for vaccine recipients after taking the jab, Al Bayan reported on Monday.

Dr Nawal Al Kaabi, the Chairperson of the National Covid-19 Clinical Management Committee, said that vaccine recipients were asked to wait for a stipulated period after taking the jab in a bid to ascertain whether they were experiencing any adverse reactions or side-effects.

Initially, vaccine recipients were asked to wait for 30 minutes after taking the vaccine. This was subsequently reduced by the committee to 15 minutes, and then 10 minutes.

As per the new rule, vaccine recipients are now allowed to leave immediately after taking the shot.

The new rule underscores the safety of China’s Sinopharm vaccine.

Dr Al Kaabi said that Sinopharm is effective against the new strain of SARS-CoV-2, which causes Covid-19 and is spreading fast in parts of Europe.
