The Sharjah Charity Association (SCA) has decided to stop funding international projects temporarily, as the number of its beneficiaries in the country has touched a million. The association has seen a rise in the number of its beneficiaries since the outbreak of Covid-19.
Abdullah Mubarak Al Dukhan, secretary-general of SCA, said the association will use funds to help people inside the country. These include families that have been affected financially due to the coronavirus situation.
It will help the affected families cover expenditures such as medical treatment, educational aid, rent, food, etc.
Al Dukhan pointed out that the association distributed tablet devices to students for distance learning and food baskets for Covid-19-affected families. It is also currently providing regular meals to stranded students of other countries and labourers who are confined to their accommodations.
The SCA has urged donors to allocate the charity proceeds for the needy people in the county as part of its initiative called 'Kin First'.
