A four-member Chinese family diagnosed with coronavirus is the first confirmed case in the UAE, the MoHAP revealed on Wednesday. "They family members are in a stable condition, and there is nothing to worry," Hussein Abdel-Rahman Al-Rand, the Assistant Undersecretary of Health Centers and Clinics Sector at the Ministry of Health and Prevention told Khaleej Times.

"The four members of the family - a father, mother, grandmother and a nine-year-old child - are currently quarantined and are being treated," Dr Al Rand said.

They arrived in the UAE on January 16 and the grandmother who had flu-like symptoms was taken to a clinic on January 23.

The Asst. Undersecretary also assured all UAE residents that there is no reason to panic. "I would request that all residents resume their daily routines as the conditions are safe in the UAE," he added.

The ministry took to Twitter to advise all citizens and residents to adhere to general health guidelines. It said, "The Ministry has taken all necessary precautions in accordance with scientific recommendations, conditions and standards approved by the World Health Organisation."
