As the number of Covid-19 cases rise in the country, community members have volunteered to ease the burden on authorities. People from different nationalities, backgrounds, creed and colour have united to assist those under quarantine through by providing food packets and essentials. People in the UAE realise that it's time haves were out to help the have-nots.

Community leaders, in coordination with local authorities, are feeding thousands of low-income people, either in quarantine, or rendered jobless due to the Covid-19 impact.

Volunteers are making efficient use of WhatsApp groups and make daily flowcharts to provide food at the doorsteps of all affected bachelors and families.

Volunteers serve food to thousands in Al Ras and Naif areas through the 'Day for Dubai' initiative. "The volunteers have been divided into smaller groups and there are team leaders heading the entire mission," a team leader said.

In Dubai, a consortium of 25 restaurants have come together to deliver food to those in need. In Abu Dhabi, plans are afoot to manage supplies for the holy month of Ramadan.

"We understand this will be a long fight. We will fight this together. We must keep differences aside and unite to save mankind," a volunteer said.
