Asif’s 174 sinks Dubai Islamic Bank

DUBAI - Mohammed Asif’s big knock helped Seven Seas Strikers to register their second straight victory in the G Force Premier League Tournament, organised under the auspices of Dubai Cricket Council and supported by Wings Group and SGK International Cricket School, Bangalore, at Dubai.

After scoring 184 in the first match against Age Group, Asif came up with another special knock, hitting 174 and remaining unbeaten as Seven Seas Striker crushed Dubai Islamic Bank by 130 runs.

The victory will help Seven Seas Striker to stay in contention for a place in the knock-out stages. Dubai Islamic Bank, on the otherhand, are almost out of the race after suffering second consecutive defeat.

Batting first, Seven Seas Strikers posted 242 runs with the help of Asif’s 78-ball 174, including 17 sixes and 7 fours. He was well supported by Atiq, who made 41 runs in 22 balls, hitting 3 sixes and 3 fours. Dubai Islamic Bank bowlers struggled to take wickets, only Kashif tasting some success, picking up 1 wicket for 21 in 4 over with the others giving away 221 runs in 16 over.

In reply, Dubai Islamic Bank found the going tough and eventually they were restricted to 112 for 7 in 20 overs. Ghalib Ali 27 and Shabab 22 runs were top performers for Banker. Freddy Sidhwa picked up 2 wickets for 18 runs.
