IHS too good for NIMS

SHARJAH — The Indian High School, Dubai, under-13 boys team recorded a pulsating 43-36 semifinal victory over the New Indian Model School, Sharjah to enter the final of the Berry Hills 5th IBS league Tournament.

Trailing 3-10, 4-10 and 10-14 respectively in the first three quarters NIMS Sharjah suddenly found its offensive game in the last quarter and scored two against 19 points to force an extra time after it was tied at 36-all.

NIMS who lost their three main players with five fouls couldn’t do anything in the extra period as Indian High easily converted seven points to register victory 43-36.

For Indian High School, Akash and Sanjeeva Raman recorded 14 and 13 points respectively. For NIMS, Sharjah, Umair Khan netted 13 points and Joel Mathias Netto scored 10 points.

In the other semifinals, Young Elites, Dubai have ground out an impressive 37-29 victory over Emirates National School, Sharjah to reach the boys final.

Elites led 22-14 at half-time. ENS fought its way back into the contest by reducing the margin by two points at the end of the third quarter. Ritik scored six points continuously in the last quarter and took his team in to the final.

Ritik top scored for Young Elites with 16 points. Jeemon and Ruel converted nine points each for Emirates National School.

In the girls tournament, Indian High School, Dubai thrashed City Sparks 39-3 to reach the under-13 girls division final. Rachita top scored for Indian High with 10 points. Delhi Private School, Sharjah also reached the finals after trailing 3-8 in the first half against DPS, Dubai. DPS, Sharjah blanked Dubai school 12-0 in the third quarter, thanks to their skipper Shreya Sadhu who scored seven points in the quarter.

Sharjah School scored seven against Dubai’s five points in the final quarter with 22-13 score.
