Pakistan won the toss on Friday and will bat against South Africa.

The two teams play twice in Abu Dhabi and three times in Dubai before two test matches. South Africa is favorite after winning this week’s two-match Twenty20 series 2-0.

Each team made three changes from each from the Twenty20 series, which featured weak Pakistani batting performances.

Pakistan drafted in former captain Younis Khan, right-hand batsman Asad Shafiq and Fawad Alam to replace Umar Akmal, Imran Farhat and Shahzaib Hasan.

Jacques Kallis returns for the Proteas after recovering from his back problem, while Hashim Amla and Charl Langeveldt also come in for Rusty Theron, Albie Morkel and Loots Bosman.

Lineups:
