Seven Seas lift Anchor Marine title

DUBAI — A brilliant knock of 92 by Muhammad Asif helped Seven Seas beat Eleven CC by 15 runs and lift the Anchor Marine T20 Cricket Cup, a press release said.

The tournament was held at the Seven Seas Ground under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council.

Prizes were donated by Shahvir Sidhwa of Seven Seas Group.

In the final, Seven Seas won the toss and chose to bat first. Muhammad Asif’s contribution of 92 laid the base for the team’s victory.

Asif was ably supported by his teammates Javed Butt (35 runs) and Kaleem (30 runs). A strong batting performance meant the Seven Seas put up a total of 232 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. None of the Eleven CC bowlers were particularly impressive, with Mansoor, Atiq, Ahmed, Marlin, Qadir, NaeemUllah taking one wicket each. Chasing the total, Eleven CC were able to score 217 all out in 19.2 overs.

Despite Atiq’s excellent batting (92 runs) and inspired support from the other end by Rohit (36) and Mansoor (32), the Eleven CC were unable to meet their target. Freddy Sidhwa and Asif took two wickets each for the Seven Seas.
