A 48-year-old Emirati man suffered serious injuries after his car rammed a camel that was crossing the Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Road in Umm Al Quwain on Wednesday. The camel was killed on the spot.
According to a senior police officer, the central operations room was alerted about the mishap around 8pm. “The motorist had sustained serious injuries and was shifted to the UAQ Hospital,” said Lt-Col Saeed Obaid bin Aran, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department of the police.
“Though the victim was driving within the speed limit, the camel entered the road all of a sudden. The motorist could not steer away in time and car hit the animal, killing it on the spot. The car was damaged,” he added.
