“Egyptian students registered in the UAE are being tested at three different locations: the Cultural Attache in Abu Dhabi, the Egyptian Club in Al Ain, and the Egyptian Club in Dubai,” said Tamer Mansoor, Egyptian ambassador to the UAE.

Dr Adel Nuwaishi, Egyptian Cultural Attache in the UAE, said 450 male and female students are sitting for the final tests this year against 328 in 2012.

“These include 143 in Abu Dhabi as compared to 100 in 2012, 260 in Dubai against 202 last year and 26 in Al Ain, which is the same figure as was in 2012.”

Adding, he said students enrolled from Grades 1 to 10 of the general education schools, and those enrolled from Grades 1 to 12 in Azhari institutes (run by Al Azhar University in Egypt) will sit for the examinations this academic year. “All the examinations start at 9am and end at 10.30am, 12noon, and 1pm.”

While six inspectors of the Ministry of Education in Egypt are now supervising the two examination centres in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, the consulate in Dubai is managing the whole process therein. “Sherief Al Badawi, Consul-General of Egypt to Dubai and Northern Emirates checked the process in the Egyptian Club in Dubai.”

Dr Nuwaishi explained that they have been doing their best to get permission from the UAE Ministry of Education to open schools for Egyptians so that they can follow the same syllabi as in their home country.

“I have contacted the ministry since I joined the cultural attache to get permission for opening schools for Egyptian students here. The Minister of Education himself promised to refer the issue to the education council for approval.”

Dr Nuwaishi said the consulate in Dubai will send all the answer sheets at the end of the examinations to the Ministry of Education in Egypt for correction and marking. “The results shall be announced within three to four weeks.”
