The e-system, through the Abu Dhabi Education Council’s (Adec) Enterprise Student Information System (eSIS), aims to archive all information of each student from the time they started school till they finish.

“All the archived records for all private and public schools will be in one system,” said Waleed Nasouli, eSIS project manager.

Nasouli said the electronic archive system hoped to create a paperless environment and promote the use of information technology. With this system, students can obtain any information about their early school years such as grades, schools, cycles, subjects and academic history easily and “within a few minutes”.

It is also an efficient way to record and save “important information correctly and safely, without being affected by any factors such as time or the environment”, according to the Adec.

eSIS was initially rolled out in December 2009 across 268 public schools which established a comprehensive student database for public schools. This was later on introduced in phases at private schools.

So far, 1.4 million student logs comprising the public and private schools in Abu Dhabi, were entered into the system, which follows the Federal Law No.7 of 2008 on dealing with and saving historical documents and files, Nasouli said.

By March, requests for the archived records before 2009 can be made through the regional zones — Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region.
