Indian varsities among top 200 worldwide

Dubai - The Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, bagged the 147th position while the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, ranked 179th this year from its 235th position last year.

The 12th edition of the QS World University Rankings 2015/16 confirmed the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as the world's top university followed by Harvard (2nd), and The University of Cambridge and Stanford University (3rd). ETH Zurich (9th) broke into the top 10, while the sharpest rise in the top echelon of the table is for two leading Singaporean universities which made it to the top 15 for the first time ever.
The National University of Singapore (12th) is the leading Asian institution, while Nanyang Technological University (13th) took a quantum leap, nearly closing the gap with its domestic rival.
For the first time, two Indian universities have made it to the top 200 list.
