Dubai-based student Safa Wajid is the epitome of the 2017s modern day student. Aside from simply going to school to study, she says interacting with a multicultural mix of peers and being taught beyond just academics in the classroom has enabled her to grow as a person.
Here, she has penned a piece for Khaleej Times to showcase how students today are more than just students. They are thinkers, makers and doers. And at a time when conflict is rife around the world, she wants to promote 'forgiveness'.
Forgiveness
"What is life? It's a gift given by God. Today we have it tomorrow we might not. Do we value life and thank God each day for it? Do we forgive people for anything wrong they might have done intentionally or unintentionally? People have to learn to love life first. Once they appreciate the importance of life they will look at people from a different perception. They will learn to forgive and forget. Forgiveness makes you a better person. It tells about your character. Forgiveness is good for one's health. Research shows that people who forgive are always happy and healthy. If God can forgive us for all our sins then why can't we forgive others? Why can't we forget and lead a blissful life?
Forgiveness is a free gift; free to give and free to receive. Imagine a world where people have learnt to forgive. There would be no quarrels, no ill feelings, no hatred and no wars. The world would become a place like Rabindranath Tagore described in his poem "Where the mind is without fear" Life becomes easier when you forgive.
Let us all live in a world full of peace and harmony. I would like to conclude this topic by a wondrous quote by Bryant H.McGill: "There is no love without forgiveness and there is no forgiveness without love."
