A teacher at a public school in Sharjah has been transferred to a school in Al Dhaid as punishment after a video showing his students dancing and creating ruckus in class went viral. The video shows the teacher also joining them in the dance later.
The Ministry of Education also summoned the parents of the students and made them sign an undertaking that their wards wouldn't repeat the act. The students' mobile phones were also confiscated.
An official at the Sharjah Education Zone (SEZ) said the viral video showed the students singing and dancing in front of the indifferent teacher. "The teacher did not seem like he was in control of the class and allowed the students to create ruckus. He even danced with them, without realising that such a behaviour is against the values of the UAE society."
Many social media users criticised the teacher, with some saying the act did not fit his status as a role model for students.
Parents Khaleej Times spoke to said the Ministry of Education must not be lenient with this type of behaviour.
