The first global top 100 and elite UK Russell Group university to establish a campus in Dubai, the University of Birmingham Dubai opens its doors to students on 23 September 2018, offering degrees that will be taught, examined and accredited to the same high standards as those delivered on its UK campus.
Professor Glyn Watson said: "There has never been a more exciting time for you to join the University of Birmingham global community. Whether you are seeking to begin your academic journey by joining one of our undergraduate programmes or building upon your existing knowledge through postgraduate study, you can be confident that we will, stretch, challenge and support you every step of the way. It is what makes  Birmingham graduates among the most employable graduates in the world."
Initially, there will be opportunities for students to study Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Business Management and Economics at the undergraduate level, all with the option of an integrated foundation year if necessary. At postgraduate level, International Business, Computer Science and a PGCE with  Primary education pathways and Secondary education pathways in Science, English and  Mathematics are available.
Meanwhile, the university is already developing programmes in the subject areas of Law, Psychology, and Accounting and Finance to follow, and there are also plans to establish an active programme of research.
While the context to the broader student experience will be different to that of the UK, the quality and standard of education, resources and expertise will replicate the approach of the University in Birmingham. Students will graduate with a University of Birmingham degree and be supported to develop the broader range of graduate attributes that employers expect from Birmingham students.
Prospective students can apply for scholarships to support them during their studies. More information on applying for these can be found at https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/dubai/study/fees-and-funding/scholarships.aspx
The University of Birmingham Dubai may be the University of Birmingham's first independent overseas campus, but the university already had significant global reach and impact, supporting its position at 79th in QS World University Rankings, through a range of strategic global partnerships across the USA, Australia, China and Brazil. The Dubai campus is the latest phase of global expansion and builds on international teaching activities in Singapore and China, as well as the University's extensive international research collaborations.
Closer to home, as a global university with a civic outlook, the University of Birmingham Dubai is committed to contributing to UAE society and supports the UAE's vision of developing a competitive economy driven by knowledge and innovation, as well as Dubai's goal of building an international education hub.
The university aims to offer the highest quality academic experience to stretch and challenge students in Dubai, while encouraging bold, independent thinking to ensure that graduates are equipped to stand out in a competitive, global employment market. Students who choose to study at the University of Birmingham Dubai will be taught by outstanding academics; experts in their fields, who are shaping policy, influencing society, and changing lives around the globe. They will join one of the world's top 100 universities, which counts 11 Nobel Prize winners among its former staff and students.
