Following the fatal shooting of a police officer in central Paris on Thursday evening, the UAE Embassy in Paris has taken to Twitter to urge UAE nationals to stay alert in the city.
Using its official Twitter handle, @UAEEmbassyParis tweeted: "In cases of emergency, the embassy advises its honourable citizens to contact it through Twitter @UAEEmbassyParis or through the emergency contact numbers. +33144340200 or +33642697327."
One policeman was killed and two others wounded in the shooting incident that took place on the Champs Élysées. The incident comes just days before the first round of the French presidential elections.
Soon after the incident took place, @UAEEmbassyParis tweeted: "Urgent: French police advises citizens not to go to the Champs Elysees Avenue in Paris and we urge our citizens to take caution."
