Spain labored to a 2-1 win over 10-man Chile on Friday to take top spot in Group H and set up an elimination match against Portugal in Cape Town on Tuesday.

The European champion’s usually attractive passing was mostly ditched in favor of a slower tempo, physical affair.

Midfielder Andres Iniesta said “this is a World Cup and we’re going to try and do the best we can even though sometimes a rival makes it complicated for you and you have to change your way.”
