Students, teachers and administrative staff returning to UAE schools and colleges in the new academic year will need to undergo a Covid-19 test, an Arabic daily has reported. This is among the four conditions specified by the Ministry of Education for education institutes to reopen, Al Roeya reported on Tuesday.

The Covid-19 tests will be conducted in phases from August 16 in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Prevention.

All students and teachers must register on the UAE's contact tracing app AlHosn.

Campus learning was suspended across all educational institutions in the UAE in March, as part of precautionary measures to limit the spread of Covid-19. Since then, education went online and schools and colleges shifted to e-learning.

The education institutes were given the green light to reopen from September provided they adhere to specific precautionary conditions laid out by the authorities.
