Al Dhaid sewage treatment plant goes operational

SHARJAH - Sharjah Municipality has started operating Al Dhaid sewage water treatment plant, Ali Al Tounaji, head of Al Dhaid section at the Sharjah Municipality, said.

He said that the plant, which was built at a cost of Dh3.2 million.

He said that the municipality would set up another sewage water treatment plant in Al Fayah area of Sharjah.

"The proliferation of water will cover an area of 10,000 square metres and the plant is equipped to control the foul odor emanating from the water," he said, adding that the plant had been put on a trial basis for two months and proved very efficient.

The plant is operated with advanced electronic systems and contains an air-pump room, control room, several draining reservoirs, as well as a water reservoir, Mr Al Tounaji noted.

"The plant is also equipped with an automatic alarm system connected to the telephone network.

"The system will notify workers about any damage occurring in the system," he said. Mr Al Tounaji pointed out that the electronic control system of the entire plant was 'user friendly' and could be operated by one individual.
