According to Dr Jauaan bin Salim Al Dhahiri, Chairman of the Department, the move is aimed at ensuring punctuality and efficiency of rendering services to the public.
"The network will enable us to process all transactions through an integrated working system and a mechanism that ensures punctuality, accuracy and confidentiality," said Dr Dhahiri.
He said the department's managerial structure was currently being revised. A consultant bureau had been contracted to conduct required studies to introduce latest technologies, set up an integrated database, and put in place the eNetwork which will link the department with other departments in Abu Dhabi and its suburbs.
Dr Dhahiri also spoke about his department's nationalisation plans, pointing out that the percentage of nationals in the workforce had increased to more than 60 per cent.
"This is in fact not our aspiration. Nationalisation of managerial posts only is not our target.. we will be targeting technical posts as well including engineering and technician posts," he noted.
He said positive steps had been taken in this regard where the department is relying on graduates of the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) and technical institutes to fill technical positions in the department.
On the services offered by the department, Dr Dhahiri said efforts were now being made to offer best services to buildings owners and tenants. The Rents Department is being upgraded where the concept of the multipurpose employee is being applied. A wide range of integrated services have been introduced including branches of banks, water and electricity, Etisalat and E-Vision.
"We are bringing everything that is needed in day-to-day life under one roof," stated Dr Dhahiri.
