DUBAI — The Dubai Court of Appeal has upheld the charge against a British school teacher of impaired driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Dubai Traffic Court of First Instance had sentenced the 24-year-old teacher to one month in jail and fined her Dh1,300 besides ordering suspension of her driving licence for six months.
The appeal court's reconfirmation of the ruling by the Court of First Instance has come in response to her appeal to reconsider the verdict since The Briton was arrested by police in Al Mutahawell district at 3am on July 24. When she was asked to pull over, police observed that she was unable to reverse her car and getting a strong whiff of alcohol, gave her a breath test. The alcohol level was found to be 170mg.
