Top poets to attend `mushaira' in capital

ABU DHABI - Top poets from India and Pakistan will present their latest literary work at a mushaira which is being organised on April 23 at the Inter-Continental Hotel in the capital to promote love and friendship between the people of both nations.

According to an organiser of the `Emarat International Urdu Mushaira', the theme of the evening will be 'Love and peace bring happiness' on which poets from both the countries as well as from the UAE will present their poems.

A leading poet from India, Prof. Shamsur Rehman Farooqi, will preside over the mushaira which is being organised by Emarat Urdu Academy, a literary society which is working to promote the Urdu language.


The poets who would represent India include Talib Khoondmeri, Lata Haya, Dr Tabish Mehdi, Manzar Bhoopali, Popular Meerathi, Asgar Veloori, Dr Rahi Fidai, Malikul Aziz, Majid Deobandi and Mohammed Himayatullah.

The poets who are coming to participate in the mushaira from Pakistan include Zafar Iqbal, Mahmood Wajid, Anwar Shaoor, Liaqat Ali Aasim, Rafeeuddin Raaz and Azm Bahzaad.
