The new complex with about 12 clinics including ten specialised and two general clinics, was completed at an estimated cost of Dh30 million and is the first of its kind in the emirate to cater to dental specialty, said Hamad Taryam Al Shamsi the director-general of Ajman Health Zone.

The specialised clinics are doing up to six different dental specialties including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery and gum treatment. The complex also houses a primary healthcare clinic, a gynecology and pediatric clinic, and a school health clinic.

“The dental clinic has been equipped with all the latest technologies in the field such as a laser machine and teeth whitening machine,” Al Shamsi said.

Dr Ameena Al Shamsi, director of the complex, said the shift from Rashidiya centre was a big relief as the old centre had become dilapidated.

“We have transferred most of the staff from Rashidiya and would be recruiting more. At present about 60 per cent of all required staff are at work and the rest will be recruited before the end of this year,” she said.

In 2010 an FNC health committee found a dire shortage of medical facilities and staff on their field trip to Ajman and recommended more health centres to be built and more recruitment of medical staff.
