The Ministry of Health and Prevention has just issued a circular regarding a paediatric oral suspension medicine.
According to the circular, batch number 0621 of Profinal 100mg/5mL, size 110mL, has been withdrawn from the shelves of UAE's pharmacies.
The product, made by Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries, Julphar, did not meet UAE health standards and guidelines.
All packets from the aforementioned batch must be returned to the supplier and taken off the shelves of pharmacies and medical establishments in the public and private sector.
Julphar affirmed that this batch was only available in the UAE and Saudi Arabia market and no other batches have been affected.
"Julphar has withdrawn a batch of Profinal 100mg / 5 ml suspension, as per instruction from UAE MoH. The health and safety of our customers and patients is always our highest priority. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us," the company said in a statement.
Profinal Suspension is used to relieve mild to moderate pain from a headache, muscle ache, common cold, toothache, or a backache. It can also be used in minor injuries such as sprains and strains.
