As the Abu Dhabi Festival marks its 10th edition, organisers have announced that the Czech Philharmonic will play a specially commissioned piece in the Emirates Palace Auditorium.
On Sunday, March 26, the Prague-based orchestra (conducted by Jiri Belohavek) will perform the world premiere of renowned Franco-Lebanese composer Bechara El-Khoury’s (pictured) work Poème Orientale.
Also on the evening’s gala bill will be Welsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel who will perform popular opera arias and traditional Welsh songs, accompanied by rising star Viktoria Yastrebova.
Elsewhere during the four-week cultural fest at Emirates Palace hotel will be performances from the likes of Chinese classical pianist Li Yundi, Brazil’s Grammy-winning world music star Gilberto Gil and tenor extraordinaire Placido Domingo.
