Amity University students visit Glasgow

The students of BSc Forensic Science at Amity University Dubai visited Glasgow to gain the practical experience on forensic crime scene course and other areas of forensic science.
The students were accompanied by Dr Geetanjali Chandra, a criminology expert, and faculty of Amity University Dubai. The group included Emiratis, Indians and other nationality students from Amity University Dubai.
The Glasgow City Council Provost Bailie Baker addressed the students at a civic reception on the first day of visit.
As a part of their curriculum they learnt a lot of methods for collection of the physical evidences and analyzing a real forensic case report and interpreting actual DNA results.
Dr Rhonda Wheate, a legal expert, conducted a moot court exercise in which students carried out an examination-in-chief and cross-examination; and performing a crime scene examination, with different role play, finger printing and other techniques to investigate the crime scene.
During the two week of stay in Glasgow, the students had the opportunity to visit police museum. They have also got a chance to see jury trials of High Court of Glasgow; it was real learning curve for the students.
"Students of Amity University Dubai are curious, confident, enquiring scientists with a keen interest not only in the basic forensic but in the application of knowledge to real life situation" said by Director of Forensic Institute Glasgow Prof Allen Jamieson.
"We are currently working on creating more practical learning opportunities for our students' to gain invaluable exposure," said Dr Narayanan Ramachandran, Pro-Vice Chancellor Amity University Dubai.
