The ‘EMC Velocity2 Signature Solution Centre’ has been built in partnership with EMC, one of the leading information infrastructure solutions provider. The new facility is expected to provide critical support to companies for selecting the cost-effective and efficient solutions to their data storing and management challenges .

Addressing a joint Press conference, the officials of the EMC and Emirates Computers said the centre will enable the companies to test the outcome of the application of each solution and scale them up in a virtual environment. The company officials can directly ‘see’ the outcome when implementing each solution. This will enable them to test the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of each solution, and take long-term decisions on their procurements. Such first hand inputs on cost effectiveness and efficiency are of crucial benefit to companies in these periods of financial crisis in particular, they explained.

“An increasing concern for businesses is how to best deal with and manage the recently accelerated growth of digital information. Energy efficiency, business continuity of IT infrastructure, information governance, meeting risk and compliance requirements for data storage and back up are also some of the top priorities for organisations today.

Replying to questions they said they estimated a market of $400 million in the GCC countries for such solutions. “We hope to take about 45 to 50 per cent of the market’’.
